This is not really a roommate situation. Here you have a key to your private furnished unit. Your relationship to your neighbors is as friendly or as formal as you care to make it, like in any apartment building, but you are sharing bathrooms with your neighbors.
The unit is clean and in good condition. It has a wood floor and a nice Oriental style carpet. We provide basic furniture (bed, chair, rug, desk) for no additional charge, if you want it. There is a fairly large back yard with a big avocado tree, a picnic table, and space to garden. There is no real kitchen, but we supply a refrigerator and microwave, and there are a number of inexpensive restaurants in the area. It is possible to barbecue in the back yard. The rent is your entire housing cost because utilities are included. (Owner pays gas, electricity, water and garbage.) High speed internet is available from the usual providers.
The location is excellent. Easy access to San Francisco, Berkeley City College, and the University of California (U.C. Berkeley), downtown Oakland, and other East Bay points. The a free bus takes you to the MacArthur BART station, eight blocks away. The local bus stop (AC Transit 72) is one block away. The F bus, which circumnavigates the U.C. Berkeley campus stops one block away. Several AC Transit buses go to San Francisco and the Trans Bay Terminal. We are near Safeway, The Oaks Club, Arismendi Bakery, Bank of America, Planet Fitness, 7-Eleven, and Starbucks.
We are looking for good tenants who pay their rent on time, keep their unit clean, are businesslike in their dealings with the manager, and courteous to their fellow tenants. This building is usually quiet, and we want tenants who like to keep it that way. (We cannot guarantee perfect for those very sensitive to noise.) Everyone is welcome here. We do not discriminate. Prospective tenants must fill out an application. We do credit and criminal checks.
